Meet Lepa

I am a North Carolina Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My practice is based on the premise that what we think directly affects what we feel, which in turn affects how we act.

My career journey gave me experience with all kinds of clients - including children, teens, adults and families. I’ve also worked in various clinical settings - including inpatient, residential, outpatient, community, day treatment programs, and schools.

All of this led me to develop and refine the SEW Balance Method.

PERSONAL LIFE

I am happily married, and the mother of three lovely children. I have called Charlotte, NC my home since 1994. My family originates from the former Yugoslavia and northeastern New Jersey. I grew up bi-culturally and traveled often. I believe that laughter is essential to survival, and very much enjoy incorporating humor in my daily interactions with people. I also enjoy traveling, plants and gardening, skiing, hiking, biking, yoga, reading, and being outdoors.

  • They left the political and economic instability in (former Yugoslavia) now called Serbia with hopes for a better life in the United States.

  • But money didn’t come easily or quickly. While still just a toddler, Lepa’s parents had to send her and her infant sister by themselves overseas, back to Eastern Europe. She didn’t see her parents again for 17 months.

  • Once back in the U.S., their neighborhood had high poverty, high crime, and high levels of trauma. Violence and abuse took their toll.

  • As a 17 year old in a strict, religious community, she was expected to marry upon turning 18. But she had other plans.

  • A hidden college application, a scholarship appeal, and a 13-hour train ride got Lepa out of New Jersey for good and down to North Carolina – sight unseen.

Charmed, I’m sure.

Um. Nope. This was no charmed life. But Lepa Modie needed a way out and through – so she created it.

MEET THE FOUNDER

In 2021, I made the decision to shift the paradigm on mental health and created the SEW Balance assessment and methodology.

SEW stands for the Secret to Everyday Wellbeing. We make it easier to find balance in an imbalanced world. People feel lost, and life is tumultuous, why not give yourself some well-deserved peace and stability?

The SEW Balance Method teaches you about the universal factors for wellbeing that are actually within your control; and takes the guesswork out of making lasting improvements to your life.

It’s evidence-based and rooted in the latest advancements in neuroscience and positive psychology principles. The SEW Balance Method is designed to be highly accessible through the app store so you can take our course from your phone, tablet, or computer.
